We were asked to come up with a concept for a new quarterly event to drive sales for the beauty department. My copywriter and I thought it would be fun to educate our customers more about beauty and new trends, once the idea was locked in, we came up with a catchy name and a logo for it too. Every quarter we would sit down and do research on up and coming beauty trends in the market that we could incorporate into the event. We would pitch the ideas to the merchandisers and buyers picking 4 trends every quarter to make sure we had products and stock to back up the trends. I would do all the art direction and page creation for the bespoke pages working alongside my copywriter we would come up with content to feature on the page, this would sometimes include videos where we would work with the promo team to create these educational videos.

Initial Concept Design Ideas & Style Guide

I wanted to create striking imagery that will entice people to clickthrough to the page, encapsulate the beauty trend itself. I picked a modal that i wanted to feature in all Beauty Edit shoots, someone young with flawless skin and beautiful long hair – the reason for this was so i can use her for all shoots regardless of the trend. Having one model will help with brand identity and consistency too, i wanted the customers to know every time they see this modal its Beauty Edit time. Obviously in some cases we weren’t able to secure the modal in which case we had no option but to use another but i tried to make sure they looks similar.

Homepage Redesign to start

The pages were created off a template i created in the beginning of our project, my copywriter and I came up with a list of content we could create every quarter for every trend – this would include social media engagement so we decided to embed the QVC beauty instagram account. An educational piece/pieces was always key to add, along with a beautiful header image encapsulating the trend itself and then products to support the trends.
